Accredited Practising Dietitian

MARI HARRISON

ACCREDITED PRACTISING DIETITIAN
Mari is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) with nearly 20 years nutrition experience. She has worked in both the public and private health sectors as well as taught in, and coordinated some of the health science programs at Canberra Institute of Technology.

She developed a keen awareness of nutrition after being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in her early teens. This, alongside her clinical work as a dietitian, has given Mari a unique understanding of the impact of chronic illness on eating and lifestyle (and vice versa). Mari now has a special interest in the role of nutrition in all types of diabetes, weight concerns, eating behaviours, and mental health. She believes that a healthy relationship with food is important to overall health and wellbeing.

Mari currently works part-time. She enjoys swimming, warm summer evenings, eating strawberries, chocolate, and spending quality time with her husband and toddler. Some day, she hopes to finish writing her health memoirs.

Mari is also an Optifast Accredited Healthcare Professional and Associate Member of the Obesity Surgery Society of Australia & New Zealand
(OSSANZ).
